Dependence of dynamic viscosity and dynamic elasticity on thestrain amplitude in a polymer solution

Abstract

Abstract. The structural rheological model is used to interpret the results of dynamic measurements in polymer solutions of polyacrylamide and xanthan. The model describes the dependence of dynamic viscosity and dynamic elasticity on thestrain amplitude at a fixed frequency of shear oscillations. The structural rheological model makes it possible to interpret the experimental curves as a result of a change in the structure of a sample of a polymer solution under the action of an oscillating shear flow. An integral characteristic of the structure is the number of macromolecules linked by engagements into some associates of macromolecules. The analysis of rheological curves does not use the concept of a continuous or discrete relaxation spectrum. The experimental data are approximated by the equations of the structural model in separate intervals of thestrain amplitude, which correspond to different states of the structure of the polymer solution.
